It is a SOD ProCyte product and it is based on the Iamin discovery by Dr. Loren Pickart.
The product was created by Dr. Loren Pickart, inventor of over 140 patents on the regeneration of the skin. He created the Skin Biology Incorporated in 1994. He discovered Iamin, a human complex peptide-copper which signals the regeneration of the skin after a damage. The discoveries of Iamin have brought to numerous products as ProCyte Tricomin, created by Dr. Pickart in 1985 and left in 1991 for health.
Dr. Loren Pickart says that the last cause of the androgenetic baldness, after the androgen signals, is a damage of the skin around the follicle.
Folligen is a non-drug product designed to improve scalp and hair follicle health and hair vitality. Folligen had its beginning as a skin repair cream that was being tested in the Dermatology Department at the University of California at San Francisco. A 41-year-old woman with severe hair loss tried one of our skin repair creams because nothing else had worked to restore her lost hair. In two and one-half months she regained all of her lost. Other people began using our skin repair cream to counter hair loss and. in time, Folligen emerged as a distinct product.
Folligen's biological effect on hair is similar to, other copper-peptide products such as Graftcyte and Tricomin which are skin repair products that aid hair growth and scalp health.
Folligen is sold in three versions: (1) Folligen Cream which that works well on hairlines, (2) a more-liquid Folligen Lotion for using in areas of denser hair, and (3) Folligen Solution Therapy Spray which can be sprayed as a fine mist into the hair.
Copper ion complexed with certain peptides has both skin repair and hair growth enhancement effects.
We recommend using Folligen four to five times a week as a light coating applied before bedtime.
Male
customers usually tell us that customers say that Folligen:
(1) Markedly reduces hair loss in about three weeks
(2) Improves their scalp health and reduces irritation
(3) results in a thicker head of hair in abour four months
For more hair stimulation, add in 2% Minoxidil. This can be progressively increased to 5% Minoxidil. Sometimes minoxidil produces scalp irritation. If this happens, stop the minoxidil and use only Folligen until your scalp health is restored. Then reuse the 2% minoxidil and the 5% minoxidil if your scalp remains healthy.
Retinoic acid (Retin-A ® (marchio registrato) helps produce thicker hair shafts when used with minoxidil. This combination appears to be one of the better current approaches to hair regrowth. The major drawback is an often strong scalp irritation. Folligen, used lightly, can greatly reduce this irritation. Sometimes, the combination of minoxidil and retinoic acid causes breaks in the skin barrier.
IngredientsNote: Copper-peptides are formed when a solution of the hydrolyzed soy protein is mixed with copper chloride. Less than 1 in 10 trillion of the copper chloride molecules remains as copper chloride.
Folligen Lotion
The Lotion is a more liquid version of the cream. Works better in denser hair
areas. Good results reported for scalp and hair recovery after permanent waving and hair
straightening procedures.

Folligen Solution Therapy Spray
This water-based Folligen comes with a sprayer for application.
Product Ingredients - Purified water, aloe vera gel, copper peptides (hydrolyzed soy
protein and copper chloride), glycerin, polysorbate-20, allantoin, diazolinydinyl urea,
methylparaben, propylparaben, herbal fragrance.
Folligen was studied to restore the scalp health, after irritations, itch, skin dryness and promotes the hair regrowth. Everything what cause scalp irritation worsens the baldness.
This product repairs the skin and doesn't have other collateral effects.
Folligen notably reduces the irritation caused by growth stimulator as the minoxidil, the retinoic acid and other chemical products as shampoo and negative balms, colorations of the hair, etc. It reconstructs the protective skin layer and has notable antioxidant property.
It contains numerous ions copper with a mixture of different fragments of peptides and this produces a variety of signals for the follicle.
The recommended use is only four times the week and therefore the product is particularly economic and lasting. It maintains irritations far without collateral effects, it would have to accompany every topical treatment.
The product can be applied after the minoxidil, before going to sleep and washed out with the morning shampoo.
The pH is almost 5.

follicle therapy spray (the creator is alwalys Dr. L.Pickart).
Every bottle is composed by 240 ml of product,8 fl. oz, (it lasted 8 months at 1 ml
a day), has sold less then Tricomin and has
more than 31.8 times more copper-peptide per ounce and contain a
high concentration of blue-colored copper-peptide complexes and do not contain any blue
dyes or scalp damaging detergents or alcohol.
It is also available as a product against varied irritations produced by glycolic acid.
Folligen may be the most effective topical treatment developed for hair loss, according to major studies at 30 Universities and Medical Centers. The key ingredients, Copper Peptides, have been shown to affect hair and scalp in the following ways:
Folligen is a non-drug product designed by Dr. Loren

Folligen Solution Therapy Spray which can be sprayed as a fine mist into the hair and is
designed to improve scalp and hair follicle health and hair vitality. Folligen is
especially useful in helping to reduce scalp irritation caused by other hair growth
products such as Rogaine® (Minoxidil), Retin-A ® (marchio registrato)® (retinoic acid) and Propecia®.
Folligen Solution Therapy Spray uses small amounts of polysorbate 20 and propylene glycol
to enhance the uptake of copper-peptide around the hair follicle.
Copper ion in the skin is more effective in inhibiting the type 1 form which is primarily producing the DHT that damages follicles and can be administered locally to the skin. Sugimoto et al (Sugimito 1995) found that copper ion is a potent inhibitor of 5-alpha reductase, inhibiting both types of 5-alpha reductase (both type 1 and type 2) that produce DHT and is the only metal to do so. Copper ion inhibits (50% reduction in activity) type 1 alpha reductase at 1.9 micromolar (0.12 micrograms copper ion per milliliter) and type 2 alpha reductase at 19.2 microM (1.2 micrograms copper ion per milliliter). No other metal has these effects.
The application of copper-peptides may provide sufficient copper ion into the hair follicle area to block DHT production in the scalp. Metabolically active copper ion (that is, copper ion free to block 5-alpha reductase) in the human body exists at about 1 microgram per milliliter in the blood and less in the skin. While the uptake of ionic copper from copper-peptides applied to the scalp is very low, human experiments by Prof. John Sorenson (University of Arkansas) have found that they can raise copper ion levels in the skin to the effective level of 1 microgram per milliliter.
Copper-peptides possess significant anti-inflammatory actions which may reduce Alopecia Areata which is the major cause of hair loss in women and generally appears as patchy loss. Although mild erythema may occur initially, affected areas of scalp or skin appear normal.. This may be anywhere on the scalp or even the rest of the body.
Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease but without the normal hormonal component in pattern loss. In simple terms, white blood cells attack the hair roots resulting in loss of hair. About 30% of individuals with this problem are aware of a relative with this disorder; thus, there seems also to be a genetic component. There are no good medical treatments. A variety of approaches are currently used for treatment; all are aimed at interrupting the "attack" of white blood cells upon the hair roots. The major therapies include topical and locally injected corticosteroids ; topical minoxidil along with anthralin; various topical irritants or sensitizers; special light treatments (called PUVA); and a number of experimental drugs which alter the immune system.
It cannot be accurately predicted when the condition may become occur. An episode might be precipitated during a illness or a physiologic stress. This type of hair loss may recur at any time. New patches of hair loss can develop while older patches are being effectively treated. Sometimes hair will regrow spontaneously over a period of months to years - this is less likely with more extensive hair loss.
